Identity

Brazil - A Cultural Melting Pot
Brazil was populated by Indians, Portuguese, Africans, Azoreans, Germans, Italians, people from Eastern Europe, Japanese, and Lebanese. All these people have participated in the creation of Brazil which expresses itself in the music, rhythm, art, architecture, culture, gastronomy, the compassion for beauty, the beach life, etc.

Many People but One Identity

Brazilians are positive and friendly people that like to meet other people and have a chat. They are proud, they value justice and ethics, they are not assertive, and they have a relaxed life style. It seems like everybody share the same passion and pride for its country, regardless of race, sex, age and heritage, and no other country can demonstrate the same blend of people and the same tolerance for a difference as Brazil.

Santa Catarina – Genuine Brazilian but with its own Characteristics
Brazil is a large country and there are cultural differences between the regions. So was Santa Catarina above all populated by Azoreans, Germans, Italians, and Portuguese, and their traditions and cultures are still distinct at many places in the state.

The strong European heritage in Santa Catarina means that the state is a different Brazil, from what many first-time visitors expect. But it is as much Brazil as any other part of the country and it shares the same basic values. The cultural diversification in Brazil actually adds an exciting dimension to the country.

To Live in Santa Catarina
It is easy to get along with people in Santa Catarina and it is possible to participate in and experience the Brazilian society and its culture and habits, every day. At the same time, there is a strong presence of values similar to the western world, a respect for privacy, a Lutheran work ethic, and a sense for justice between rich and poor.
