Golf is not a broadly spread sport in
Brazil and of 180 million inhabitants, only 15.000 are registered players.
The sport is however advancing and new golf courses are constructed
all over the country.
Sao Paulo is the state where the sport is most spread, home to almost
50% of all golf courses in Brazil. There are also many golf courses
in the states Parana, Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande de Sul, with some
10 golf courses in each state. Santa Catarina has only 3 golf courses,
but several are under development.
Most golf courses in Brazil are open for the public, although with the
requirement that the players have green card. The greenfee varies between
20 to 50 US dollar for an 18-hole course, depending on which golf course
and on which day to play.
