Golf in Brazil

Golf is not a broadly spread sport in Brazil and of 180 million inhabitants, only 15.000 are registered players. The sport is however advancing and new golf courses are constructed all over the country.
Sao Paulo is the state where the sport is most spread, home to almost 50% of all golf courses in Brazil. There are also many golf courses in the states Parana, Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande de Sul, with some 10 golf courses in each state. Santa Catarina has only 3 golf courses, but several are under development.
Most golf courses in Brazil are open for the public, although with the requirement that the players have green card. The greenfee varies between 20 to 50 US dollar for an 18-hole course, depending on which golf course and on which day to play.

Rio de Janeiro The number one tourist place in Brazil is Rio de Janeiro, the world’s most beautiful city. But there are also many top class golf courses around the city, for those who’s addiction become too strong.
Manaus, Amazonas Manau, large city in the middle of the jungle, is an exiting place for those who would like to experience he river Amazona. But there is a golf course in the city as well, for those who would like to collect another scare in the revolver.
Sao Paulo There are many golf courses in the state of Sao Paulo, of which a majority are situated close to the city Sao Paulo. Even if Sao Paulo not is a greater tourist center, it is definitely worth visiting, with a skyline that is second only to New York. And then, when in the city, why not play some golf.
